OktoberfestWhether you’re a raging alcoholic or dapper adult beverage connoisseur, the event of the year might be fast approaching. It’s a festival the world knows as Oktoberfest, a celebration in Munich, Germany, that’s been going on for 200 years. At Oktoberfest, voluminous quantities of beer are consumed and fine fare such as chicken, roast pork, sausages, and pretzels are consumed. For 16 days leading up to the first Sunday in October, the revelers party on.

If you’re of a mind to attend this year’s Oktoberfest, now would be a good idea to begin planning your travel. By the way, as one of the major German cultural centers, there is much to do in Munich besides drink until you become a “bierleichen” or beer corpse.

To gauge what you’ll have to spend on flights and lodging, you can hop over to a travel aggregate website like Travelocity, which lists hotels beginning at $48 USD nightly, ranging all the way up to $408 nightly. Of course, the lower rates could be unavailable during the height of Oktoberfest, or you may have to stray from the middle of the party central to find better deals.

If you’re travel schedule is flexible, prices as low as $450 per person are available for round trip flights from New York City to Munich. Check KLM Royal Dutch Airlines or US Airways. Any way you slice it, this is an inexpensive, world-class beer buzz.
