from a Vegas casino. They take the smallest percentage and are easiest to play. Blackjack is okay if you have a sharp eye and good memory. Your worst bets are keno, roulette, and the slot machines.

Please, we’re just getting started. We haven’t even reached the important part yet. No matter how thick your Jetsetter credit card is, go in with a game plan. Know in advance where you’re going to draw the line at losses and at what point you’ll throw in the towel. Entering a casino with an open-ended loss target is a recipe for disaster. People that do that are the reason we have organizations like Gambler’s Anonymous. Don’t be the next to have to stand up and say, “Hello, my name is Derek and I’m a gambling addict.”

Don’t chase money or you’re a goner for sure. Never risk more than 1% of your stake on a single bet and only up bets that you’re ahead on. Likewise, don’t lose your mind to euphoria. You have to be very, very smart and disciplined to walk out of a casino with a profit. These guys aren’t pikers. They’ve been calculating odds and taking suckers for a while now. If you hit a small winning streak with a certain dealer, say $100, but have given back $20 of the profit, take a breath, close up shop, and walk away. Find another table. Eat a lobster dinner. Whatever you do, take a break before continuing.

And the last Jetsetter in Vegas rule is to pass up free drinks unless you want to leave a loser. Do you think they offer them out of their concern that you might be thirsty? Wrong! They wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t profitable. What does alcohol do? Altogether, boys and girls. It lowers inhibitions and turns normally sane individuals into gambling idiots and the casino wins.
